MISSIONS WEEK in Chidren's Ministry

IMAGINE: church

600x300mw_csm_2012finalv3
What do children use better than anyone?  They have great IMAGINE-ations!  As a parent I am quick to point out that my children live in the literal, but when I stop and think about my own children this is far from the truth.  My children live in their own fantasy world.  Their fantasies are shaped by the world that they see around them, and hopefully our children are getting a picture of what the church looks like or could look like.

This month we get to explore what the Church is.  So many times we refer to the Church as a building where we come to worship—a place, rather than a living, breathing organism.  Over the course of the next two weeks, we will specifically focus on the global Church as well as the local Church.  We want our children to understand that Jesus calls us to be the Church - and that the Church is a group of people.  Jesus calls us to be ready at all times (Matthew 25:35-40) and to act in a way that reflects the person of Jesus Christ.  Our call as Christ followers is for each of us to be missionaries!  We want to allow our children the opportunity to IMAGINE how this could look for them!

MKs from Fellowship

The children in our ministry may ask the questions:

 * What is life is like in another country?

* What is a missionary?

  * What’s it like to be a kid whose parents are missionaries?

* What exactly do missionaries from our church do all day?

With the rise of technology, our world is more interconnected than ever, visualizing the urgent needs of others. Part of our focus in Children's Ministry at Fellowship is to broaden our kids’ cultural horizons and spark an interest in missions.  We want kids to feel they have a purpose to love and glorify God, and serving our own missionary kids is an effective hands-on way for them to grasp this truth.

This month all of our children’s ministry kids will meet their missionary buddy!  Each class is assigned a child from a missionary family that is supported or sent out by Fellowship Church.  The classes will receive a bio of their child complete with their main interests and prayer needs.  On the first Sunday of every month, we will focus on these buddies and guide kids through activities that that will encourage them to reach a lost and dying world.

To find out who your child's missionary buddy is or to get their family contact info, email svanhorn@fefc.com

The program is for children currently in grades 2-5, and will rehearse on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 till 6:30 in the Kid’s Town room.
Rehearsal dates are: Nov 2, 9, 16, and 30 (Wednesdays) and Saturday morning, Dec 3rd from 10:00 till noon.
There is no cost to register your children for Kingdom Kids Choir, but there will be a nominal charge for the t-shirt they will wear when they sing on December 4th.
You can register by emailing April Cyr at acyr@fefc.com , or register in the lobby Sunday October 23.
If you’d be interested in helping with Kingdom Kids, let April know. Childcare can be provided for children younger than 2nd grade if needed.
As always, it’s a pleasure to meet and get to know your children as we learn about authentic worship and sing His praises.
