MISSIONS WEEK in Chidren's Ministry
IMAGINE: church
What do children use better than anyone? They have great IMAGINE-ations! As a parent I am quick to point out that my children live in the literal, but when I stop and think about my own children this is far from the truth. My children live in their own fantasy world. Their fantasies are shaped by the world that they see around them, and hopefully our children are getting a picture of what the church looks like or could look like. This month we get to explore what the Church is. So many times we refer to the Church as a building where we come to worship—a place, rather than a living, breathing organism. Over the course of the next two weeks, we will specifically focus on the global Church as well as the local Church. We want our children to understand that Jesus calls us to be the Church - and that the Church is a group of people. Jesus calls us to be ready at all times (Matthew 25:35-40) and to act in a way that reflects the person of Jesus Christ. Our call as Christ followers is for each of us to be missionaries! We want to allow our children the opportunity to IMAGINE how this could look for them!
